Setting Up GroupMe Notifications on an iPhone or iPad


To make sure GroupMe messages appear on your iPhone, follow these steps (you can skip the steps you have already completed):


Step 1 - Install and Set Up GroupMe

  1. Download and install the GroupMe app from the Apple App Store.
  2. Open the GroupMe app.
  3. Create an account or sign in.
  4. It register using your cell phone number.
  5. Use the name by which fellow golfers know you.


Step 2 - Join the Fairways Fellowship Golf Group

  1. Click the Fairways Fellowship Golf Group invitation link that was sent by text message.
  2. If prompted, select Join Group.


Step 3 - Turn Off SMS Delivery

If GroupMe displays the message: “Notifications are OFF because SMS message delivery is ON”

do the following:

  1. Open GroupMe.
  2. Tap Profile in the lower-right corner.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Locate Enable SMS delivery.
  5. Turn Enable SMS delivery to OFF.


Step 4

  1. In GroupMe Settings (in the Profile section).
  2. Tap Notifications and Sounds.
  3. Turn notifications ON.
  4. Make sure the Fairways Fellowship Golf Group is not muted.


Step 5 - Enable Notifications on the iPhone

  1. Open iPhone Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll down and select GroupMe.
  4. Tap Notifications.
  5. Turn Allow Notifications ON.
  6. Notification Delivery -  Check Immediate Delivery ✓
  7. Alerts - check all three
  • Lock Screen  ✓
  • Notification Center  ✓
  • Banners  ✓
